KU-893A Aircraft Secure Data Terminal
The KU-893A secure data terminal (Aviation) is designed for remote mounting in aircraft avionics bays or other restricted spaces in equipment shelters or armoured fighting vehicles. While suitable for use on any audio circuit the KU-893A is optimised for use on VHF/UHF/SATCOM. In addition to our standard HF radio modem this unit also provides both a black serial connection to 115Kb. Also available are an internal multi-protocol PSTN modem and a secure voice adapter.
Modification to existing radio equipment is not required to accommodate the KU-893A because it can be directly connected to the audio input of a transceiver or, as a crew connection to the aircrafts audio patch system.
The use of advanced forward error correction techniques under microprocessor control allows the KU-893A to send and receive secure data transmissions even under the most difficult HF conditions (including frequency hopping).
To reduce cost and to provide a high quality man machine interface (MMI) the KU-893A uses a personal computer as the user interface. Communication to and from the KU-893A is via RS-232. A fibre optic connection option is available for this link. The control software uses the standard mouse/windows intuitive interface and can be mastered by those with only a medium level of computer skills.
The KU-893A is a versatile, rugged and reliable secure tactical data system. Its ability to send & receive secure e-mail, GPS linked moving map display, frequency prediction system and situational awareness capability make it an ideal platform from which to build an automated tactical data network.
Connections to all I/O lines, balanced and unbalanced audio at aircraft levels make for ease of system integration.
